Orwashers Bakery was founded in 1916 by a Hungarian Immigrant family in a tiny storefront on New York City's Upper East Side. Their goal was to provide the same high-quality Rye, Black and Grain breads that reflected the traditions of their homeland. The business passed through multiple generations until it was purchased by Keith Cohen in 2008, who has committed himself to uphold the foundation of the Bakery's rich history while maintaining a distinct point of view and eyes towards the future.
As a part of the commitment to quality, Orwashers chooses to partner with local farmers and producers and works with local breweries and wineries to create our signature artisan breads. Today Orwashers has expanded to include a Café and Bakery on the Upper West Side, as well as a Wholesale Bakery in the Bronx to service the needs of our restaurant and wholesale partners.
"Unrivaled dedication to old-world style loaves for the modern customer."
